Deployment

A public demo that stays clean.

Demo mode lets anyone try the product on shared sample data without changing it for the next visitor.

Turning it on

Set DEMO_MODE=true in back-end/.env and NEXT_PUBLIC_DEMO_MODE=true in both frontends, and keep the three equal. It is off by default.

What visitors get

  • The sign-in page offers a role to try: owner, admin, member, billing or platform admin.
  • Each browser gets its own throwaway account, which joins the sample workspace with that role.
  • The sample data is read-only. A visitor can create projects, tasks, invitations and keys, and change only what they created.
  • Billing always uses the simulator, the contact form only shows its receipt, and no email is sent.
  • The assistant uses the visitor's own model key, or a small counted allowance.

The demo line

In demo mode, each app's footer carries one quiet line saying that the data is sample data and that purchases are simulated.

Removing it

When you no longer need the demo, run this in each app. It deletes the demo code and its notes from the guides, and a second run reports that nothing is left.

yarn remove:demo
